Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certification
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is an international ethical and scientific quality standard for designing, conducting, recording, and reporting clinical trials that involve the participation of human subjects.
GCP ensures that the rights, safety, and well- being of trial participants are protected, and that the clinical trial data generated is credible and accurate. Compliance with GCP provides assurance that the rights, safety, and confidentiality of participants are respected, and that the research is conducted to the highest standards.
GCP guidelines are universally recognised and apply to all types of clinical research involving human participants, including those in academic, commercial, and government settings.
To obtain a Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate, you can complete one of the GCP courses offered by the RETProgram. We offer two GCP courses:
-
GCP in Australia: This is a comprehensive course covering all aspects of Good Clinical Practice. It is suitable for those who are new to GCP or require in-depth training. The full course takes approximately 4.5 hours to complete. If you have never completed a GCP course before, you must complete this course to obtain your GCP certificate.
-
GCP Refresher: This course is designed for those who have previously completed GCP training and need to refresh their knowledge. It covers key updates and essential concepts in a more concise format. The refresher course alone does not qualify you for a GCP certificate if you have not first completed the GCP in Australia course.
Both courses are available online, and upon successful completion, you will receive a GCP certificate. This certificate is recognised as meeting the required standards for conducting clinical research involving human participants.
The GCP courses are available for free to participants from WAHTN Partner Organisations. Additionally, we offer discounted rates for participants from many other organisations. For detailed pricing information and to see if your organisation qualifies for free or discounted access, please visit our pricing page.
The validity of a Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate usually depends on the requirements of the sponsor of a research study. However, we recommend renewing the certificate every two years to stay up-to-date with the latest guidelines and best practices. For this purpose, we offer a GCP Refresher course.
Our GCP courses receive updates every year to incorporate any new developments or changes in regulations.
Each of our Good Clinical Practice (GCP) courses consists of multiple modules. Each module includes a final quiz with randomised questions. The course is considered complete once you pass all quizzes with a minimum score of 80%.
After finishing a quiz, a results page will load where you can review your answers. Be sure to progress until the last slide of the quiz activity to ensure our server records the completion of the activity.
Consumer and Community Involvement (CCI)
As a consumer, you can create a free user account and select 'Consumer' as your organisation. You can use your personal email for the account. This account provides access to all online courses related to Consumer and Community Involvement in health research, as well as other free courses. Paid courses are available under the pricing section of our website.
We currently offer three courses directly related to CCI: 'Consumer and Community Involvement in Health Research', 'Consumer and Community Involvement and Grant Writing', and 'How to Involve Consumers in Health and Medical Research'.
All of our CCI eCourses are available at no cost to all partners and are intended for researchers, academic staff, and consumers. They introduce the key concepts of involving people with lived experience in research.
